I've lost all but this body
That aches with echoes
That ramble deep inside
Ya Aadra in the name of god
Will it stop hurting
I've faded away, and my heart
My heart won't wander behind
I glance over for one last time
A great adventure awaits tonight
I knew that this day would come
Woken up through a thousand ages
Forgive me, I couldn't gaze yet in the sun
But these mountains afar, green beneath a white cloak
Will shelter me from reality's malice
To feign to wash off your tears
Only to whisper its words of death
In your ears
Now hear
The call of the town perched so near
A place to shatter the remain
Of that feeling you hold in disdain
The hills of Qartaba
To find the one rose that never bleeds
Your dreams
Are gathered in neighbouring streams
Now time to burnish my campaign
In a kingdom unphased by the rain
Travelling across this ancient yellow wooded wonder
I knew that this day would come
Burnt the ink from my previous pages
Believe me, a brand new tome has begun
But these fruit trees filled road
Lead a pilgrim up high
A thousand miles in the sky
Cedars shelter the meek
As the verse of the covenant
Shall bespeak
Now hear
The call of the town perched so near
A place to shatter the remain
Of that feeling you hold in disdain
The hills of Qartaba
To find the one rose that never bleeds
Your dreams
Are gathered in neighbouring streams
Now time to burnish my campaign
In a kingdom unphased by the rain
Travelling across this ancient yellow wooded wonder
Shocked and dismayed I gape at the idyll ahead
Skeptic of the road I've been staking
Beams of lucidity rouse the closure I dread
I hurt still in peaks so breathtaking
I can't be mistaking I can't be mistaking
Now hear
The call of the town perched so near
A place to shatter the remain
Of that feeling you hold in disdain
The hills of Qartaba
To find the one rose that never bleeds
Your dreams
Are gathered in neighbouring streams
Now time to burnish my campaign
In a kingdom unphased by the rain
Travelling across this ancient
I've lost all but this body
Along nobody
I ache, with echoes
That ramble deep inside
Ya Aadra for the love of god
Make it stop hurting
I've faded away
But my heart was left behind
O the lifetimes I'd give to admire her for one

If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
